The Champagne Best Vintage pick from us

2002 The best year since 1996, with complexity and richness backed by firm, lively structures; the finest will repay cellaring

2006 Well-structured and generous; the best offer fine integration and expression

2008 Vivid, well-structured wines in a classic style, with fine textural finesse; potentially long-lived

1. Nicolas Feuillatte Blanc de Blancs • 2008 | WE 93

Vintage 2008 is regarded as a great vintage in Champagne.

60 crus make up the blend of this 100% chardonnay Champagne. The grapes are sourced essentially from the areas of Côte des Blancs, Sézannais, Montgueux and Montagne de Reims. The chardonnay imparts remarkable freshness and elegance to the Champagne.

2. Henriot Brut Millesime • 2006 | WS 93 WS 93

Seamlessly knit, with vibrant, citrusy acidity and a satiny, creamy mousse layered with poached peach, pastry cream, mineral and crushed hazelnut flavors that expand through the midpalate and the zesty, spiced finish.3

3. Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Brut • 2006 |  JR 17/20

The 2006 vintage Charles Heidsieck is an amazing vintage that expresses more lightness and freshness than the 2005 vintage.

It is a vintage that combines 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir, and which has been aged in vats.

4. Delamotte Blanc de Blanc • 2008

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2008 from Maison Delamotte is exclusively sourced from Grands Crus chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs, in this superb 2008 harvest, we call it the baby salon !

5. Duval-Leroy • Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature Millesime • 2002  |  RP 91

For those of you who prefer secondary aromas to primary ones Duval-Leroy's 2002 Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is the Champagne you should try. Take a big wine glass and let the wine entertain you with its purity and aromas of hazelnuts, almonds, cacao, brioche, grey and wholemeal bread along with earthy, carrot, mushrooms and citrus flavors.

6. Andre Clouet Brut Millesime 2008  |  RP 92

Clouet's 2008 Brut Millesime shows quite a bit more tension and focus than the 2007, hardly a surprise given then personality of the vintage. Bright, saline notes frame expressive red fruits, flowers and sweet spices.
