Femme comprises around 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir
Founded in 1859, Duval-Leroy is today run by Belgian Carol Duval-Leroy, who took control of the estate after her husband Jean Charles died suddenly in 1991. As well as presiding over a long period of growth and success, she has also left her mark on the wider champagne world, becoming in 2007 the first woman ever to be nominated chairman of the AVC, Champagne's winemakers' association. Many consider successful, modern, market-building Carol to be the 21st century version of famous widow Veuve Clicquot! Carol's four sons work alongside her.
Tasting Note :
Memorable vintage collaboration between owner Carol Duval-Leroy and winemaker Sandrine Logette-Jardin.
Smooth, rounded and silky, in appearance like mother-of-pearl. On the nose, Femme de Champagne exudes scents of white flowers, peach, brioche crust and cream pastries. On the palate, a bewitching hint of hazelnut surrounds floral touches of honeysuckle and crystalised citrus peel.
A simply exquisite tasting experience, at the very pinnacle of Champagne.
Aging Potential : a mini¬mum of 8 years maturing in cellars
